Hello, I am Nicole. The girl you see here in the barley. This is my 4th year attending Thompson Rivers University. I am working towards an arts degree majoring in communications and public relations with a philosophy minor. When I moved to Kamloops for the school year of 2017-2018 I had never owned a laptop and knew very little about the internet or any computer programs typically used in school. My lack of practical knowledge was laughable. My first year attending post secondary was the first year that I lived in a space with internet access. In the very same year I began managing and creating content for various social media platforms that I introduced to my workplace in my hometown, Salmon Arm, B.C. In the Winter semester of 2020 I was accepted as a Social Media Ambassador for TRU World despite suggesting I wasn’t qualified for the job during my interview. I like to think I have come a very long way in a very short time. From rural farm girl with zero clue what Google Street view was to Creator and Manager of multiple social media platforms for multiple organizations. It is incredible what a few short years can do. Now here I am, creating e-portfolio’s as assignments without fear.
The purpose of this e-portfolio is to provide a creative platform for the CMNS 3550 Media Kit assignment. For this assignment I am to show that I understand what is included in a Media Kit, how they are formatted, and prove that I am able to create one on my own. The audience for this assignment is Jocelyn Anderson, professor at TRU, possibly my fellow classmates, the general public, or anyone who has taken an interest in the film Little Burgundy (1968).
To begin, please start by reading the press release. It will give you an understanding of the event in which my Media Kit builds upon.
